چکیده

To elucidate biochemical mechanisms underlining high plasma glucose in chicken embryo, gene expression profile of gluconeogenic key enzymes were characterized. The liver and skeletal muscle were collected from 13to 21-day embryos (E) (n=8) of layer chicken and the mRNA of pyruvate carboxylase (PC), cytosolic phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK-C), mitochondrial phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK-M), muscle-type fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (mFBPase), liver-type fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (lFBPase) and glucose-6-phosphatase (G6Pase) were measured by real-time PCR. All the enzymes were expressed in the liver, whereas in the skeletal muscle, only mFBPase and G6Pase were detected. In the liver, all the enzymes except for G6Pase peaked either on E13 or E15. G6Pase expression was the highest between E15 and E19. In the skeletal muscle, mFBPase peaked on E19 and G6Pase peaked on E15. These results suggest that gluconeogenesis is active in chicken embryos but regulations of mRNA expressions of the gluconeogenic key enzymes are different between liver and muscle. The results also suggest that the skeletal muscle, which is generally not regarded as a tissue conducting an active gluconeogenesis, may contribute to the regulation of embryonic plasma glucose to some extent, and warrant further investigations of the presence of enzyme activities.

Gene transcriptomic profile in arabidopsis thaliana mediated by radiation-induced bystander effects

Background: The in vivo radiation-induced bystander effects (RIBE) at the developmental, genetic, and epigenetic levels have been well demonstrated using model plant Arabidopsis thaliana (A. thaliana). However, the mechanisms underlying RIBE in plants are not clear, especially lacking a comprehensive knowledge about the genes and biological pathways involved in the RIBE in plants. Materials and...

Effects of in ovo Injection of Zinc Acetate on some Gene Expression Associated with Embryonic Growth and Development, and with Growth and Carcass Characteristics of the Resultant Chicks

This study was conducted in two steps to determine the effects of in ovo injection of zinc acetate (ZAC) on some gene expression associated with embryonic growth and development, and with growth and carcass characteristics of the resultant chicks. In the first step the effect of in ovo injectionofZAC on the expression of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs:IGF-I and IGF-I), myog...

A Review on the Effect of Arginine on Growth Performance, Meat Quality, Intestine Morphology, and Immune System of Broiler Chickens

For chickens, arginine considered an essential amino acid due to the lack of urea cycle in birds. Arginine deficiency causes growth retardation, higher prevalence of disease due to the malfunction of immune system, and lower gastrointestinal capacity. However, higher levels of arginine in the diet improved growth performance, muscle hypertrophy, and meat quality. Arginine reduces carcass fat ac...

The Effects of in ovo Nanocurcumin Administration on Oxidative Stress and Histology of Embryonic Chicken Heart

This study was designed to evaluate the effects of nanocurcumin (NC) on oxidative stress and histology of embryonic chicken heart. NC was injected into the yolk of 4-day-old embryonic eggs at one of three doses: 10 ppm (NC10 group), 100 ppm (NC100 group), and 1000 ppm (NC1000 group). The control group received normal saline. Oxidative stress in heart tissue was evaluated by measuring malondiald...

Retroviral Transduction of Fluonanobody and the Variable Domain of Camelid Heavy-Chain Antibodies to Chicken Embryonic Cells

Background: Single domain antibodies from camel heavy chain antibodies (VHH or nanobody), are advantages due to higher solubility, stability, high homology with human antibody, lower immunogenicity and low molecular weight. These criteria make them candidates for production of engineered antibody fragments particularly in transgenic animals. Objective: To study the development of transgenic ch...
